WHO WE ARE

2023 CELEBRATES OUR 30th YEAR OF PREACHING THE GOSPEL AND SERVING GOD IN BLOOMSBURG!

Victory Baptist Church was started in 1993 for the purpose of bringing honor and praise to the one true and living God; spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ; and seeing believers mature in their faith. Our desire is to help those with spiritual needs in our community through our Christ-centered worship services, Bible studies, and Sunday School classes. Our efforts to reach the world also include supporting like-minded gospel-preaching missionaries.

What to expect

WELCOME
We know you and your family will feel right at home from the moment you step into our church. Whether you are new to the area and looking for a home church, or are just passing through on vacation, please accept our personal invitation to be our guest this Sunday.

We understand that every church is unique, and guests usually don't like to be suprised. We hope this information will be of help.

ARRIVAL
When you arrive at Victory Baptist Church you will notice that VBC does not own a parking lot, but has ample parking close by. Autoneum has graciously allowed us to park in their parking lot caddy corner from our property or inside the fence along the mill building. Our front entrance on 5th St. will bring you into the fellowship hall but will require the use of a short flight of 5 stairs to get from the fellowship hall and bathrooms down to our auditorium. The handicapped access for our auditorium is through the Railroad Street side entrance and may be used as a drop-off point. Please feel free to use either entrance at your convenience.

NURSERY
Families with nursery-age children will be thrilled with our Church Nursery. A clean, attractive area staffed with carefully screened, thoroughly trained, loving workers will set your mind at ease as you enjoy our services.

DRESS
During services, we still like to wear our “Sunday Best”. Many of our men may wear jackets and ties or khakis and polos, and most of our ladies wear modest attire with skirts and/or dresses. We want our guests to feel comfortable when attending our services, so please understand that there is no dress code. Come and join us this Sunday. You will feel right at home as our guest this weekend.

SERVICES
We hope our church services will quickly become the highlight of your week. We all join together from Sunday night and Wednesday night services. On Sunday mornings our volunteer team rotates each week to teach the Junior Church children a lesson as we work through a 5-year goal of teaching through the whole Bible. Each of our services is filled with soul-stirring hymns and choruses and Bible preaching from the Authorized King James Bible.

OFFERING
Each week there is a time to worship God through our offerings. This is an act of worship for the members of our church. As a guest, please do not feel any pressure to participate. Wednesday nights our offering goes to many missionaries we support our the world.

Tim Perry currently serves as the Pastor of Victory Baptist Church. Tim was saved on January 12, 2003, at the age of 23, when he trusted Christ as his personal Saviour during a Sunday morning church service in Greenville, SC. Not long after being saved Tim began to be impressed by the Holy Ghost that he needed to know more about his new found faith. After surrendering to the calling God had placed in him, he decided to attend Bible College in the evenings at Tabernacle Baptist College in Greenville, SC, graduating in 2008 after 4 years of working full time and somehow finding the time for full time studies.

Tim married his wife, Ariel, on April 1, 2000 (Yep, that’s April Fool’s Day, but it was certainly no joke; it was the Saturday we chose to have an outside wedding), and they have two children, Benjamin (2004) and Lily (2011). Pastor Tim owned and operated Greenville Garden Care, a landscape maintenance and installation business for 17 years in SC, before selling the business and their home to follow the will of the Lord and come to Bloomsburg, PA, serving here since the summer of 2013. Some of his favorite things to do are being with family, talking with friends, finding great deals on books, studying the word, listening to great preachers preach the Bible, being involved in serving the Lord, playing and watching sports, as well as, many other things.

Our Faith

WE BELIEVE THE BIBLE TO BE THE ONLY INSPIRED, INFALLIBLE, AUTHORITATIVE WORD OF GOD. WE USE ONLY THE KING JAMES BIBLE IN ALL OUR SERVICES AND CLASSES. WE BELIEVE THIS IS THE VERY ENGRAFTED WORD OF GOD WHICH CAN SAVE SOULS.

"God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, hath in these last days spoken unto us by His Son" (Heb. 1:1-2). Jesus Christ vindicated the inspiration of the Old Testament scriptures by His use of them. Paul explains that partial prophecy will be done away "when that which is perfect is come" (1 Cor. 13:10); that which is perfect in prophecy is the completed canon of scripture: Genesis to Malachi and Matthew to Revelation. Although there have been many translations made of the Bible into dozens of languages over the past hundreds of years, God has shown by man's history that He has chosen those made from the Textus Receptus to break Satan's hold on man and bring the light of the gospel to a lost and dying world as no other source men may claim.

WE BELIEVE THAT THERE IS ONE GOD, ETERNALLY EXISTENT IN THE PERSON OF THE FATHER, SON AND HOLY GHOST.

Jesus told His disciples to go and "teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost" (Matt. 28:19), thus equating all three. Peter clearly proclaims the Holy Ghost to be God as recorded in Acts 5:3-4. Jesus, as we are reminded throughout the gospels, only taught His disciples that which the Father instructed Him to teach; and no Christian would deny the deity of Jesus Christ.

WE BELIEVE IN THE DEITY OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST, IN HIS VIRGIN BIRTH, IN HIS SINLESS LIFE, IN HIS MIRACLES, IN HIS VICARIOUS AND ATONING DEATH THROUGH HIS SHED BLOOD ON THE CROSS, IN HIS BODILY RESURRECTION, IN HIS ASCENSION TO THE RIGHT HAND OF THE FATHER, AND IN HIS PERSONAL RETURN IN THE RAPTURE OF THE CHURCH AND IN POWER AND GREAT GLORY AT HIS REVELATION.

The pivotal point of eternal destiny rests in Jesus Christ. God has so arranged creation, so arranged revelation, so arranged salvation, and has so arranged judgment that none can avoid Him whom God has proclaimed the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person. "There is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved" (Acts 4:12).

WE BELIEVE IN THE PRESENT MINISTRY OF THE HOLY SPIRIT, BY WHOSE INDWELLING THE BELIEVER IS ENABLED TO LIVE A GODLY LIFE.

As Paul asked the believers at Corinth, "Know ye not that ye are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?" (1 Cor. 3:16). We are sealed by the Holy Spirit, comforted and refreshed by the Holy Spirit. We are to walk in the Spirit, obey the Spirit, be led of the Spirit, and be filled with the Spirit. We are granted access unto the Father by the Holy Spirit; we are given our strength by the Holy Spirit. We are not to grieve Him, nor to quench Him. We are to be led, as Christ was led, by the blessed Holy Spirit.

WE BELIEVE THAT, FOR THE SALVATION OF LOST AND SINFUL MEN, REGENERATION BY THE HOLY GHOST IS ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL.

Jesus told Nicodemus, "Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God" (John. 3:5). John the Baptist declared that Jesus "baptizeth with the Holy Ghost" (John 1:33). John, the beloved disciple, records the mission of the Holy Ghost: "He will reprove the world of sin and of righteousness and of judgment" (John 16:8). The Holy Spirit works on the hearts of men. He convicts them, converts them, seals and sanctifies them. He teaches them, tempers them, prepares and presents them to their Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

WE BELIEVE IN THE RESURRECTION OF BOTH THE SAVED AND THE LOST: THEY WHO ARE SAVED WILL BE RAISED UNTO THE RESURRECTION OF LIFE, AND THEY WHO ARE LOST WILL BE DOOMED TO THE RESURRECTION OF DAMNATION.

Every man that comes into this world is given his life by Jesus Christ; John proclaims such in the first chapter of his gospel. Every man's soul is eternal. Eternal life (freely given to all who will repent and believe on him whom God has sent) is the opposite of eternal death: "whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire" (Rev. 20:15), "which is the second death" (Rev. 20:14). "Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection; on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ" (Rev. 20:6).

WE BELIEVE IN THE SPIRITUAL UNITY OF BELIEVERS IN OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST.

"For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit" (1 Cor. 12:13). "Howbeit when He, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for He shall not speak of Himself; but whatsoever He shall hear, that shall He speak; and He will show you things to come" (John 16:13). "For God has revealed unto us by His Spirit the things which He has prepared for them that love Him" (1 Cor. 2:9). "This then is the message which we have heard of Him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in Him is no darkness at all" (1 John 1:5). "If we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ, His Son, cleanseth us from all sin" (1 John 1:7).

This is not an exhaustive statement of faith. The Bible is our sole authority for our faith and practice and speaks with final authority concerning truth, morality and the proper way of conduct to mankind.
